Jack the Ripper - The Theory ( Part 2)
by Peter Jones

In all my researches and reading I have failed to come across any other Ripperologist even mentioning the possibility Jack the Ripper acted in the manner of quite a number of modern serial killers of prostitutes i.e. Druitt may in fact have been a long term client of prostitutes and, for whatever reason, turned into killing them. As did both the Yorkshire & Ipswich Rippers, for example, and many others too. In my writings it is sensibly theorised JTR frequented the area and had done so for, likely, quite a period of time - possibly years. Living nearby and visiting his Mother clearly presented him with opportunity.
There is not a single mention of Druitt ever having a girlfriend. We know of his work, his family and of his cricketing. At his age and with his social standing it is sensible to pre-suppose any normal young man would have a young woman of good standing in the offing. But nothing.

A lot of theorists immediately label Montague as a molester of the schoolboys since he was dismissed from Valentine's school in unknown circumstances. They may well be correct; equally they may be incorrect. It is just as easy to put forward the theory Montague's behaviour i.e. being late, not turning up at all, simply behaving in a frightening, abusive or bizarre fashion was the cause of his dismissal. It may even have been something as simple as an economic turndown for the school forcing a redundancy on him.
To be borne in mind is the modern day serial killers of prostitutes were not homosexual nor even bi-sexual. I am thinking more of the Green River Killer in Washington State USA, the Yorkshire Ripper & more lately the UK's other serial killer of prostitutes in Ipswich, Suffolk.
So the following is my personal theory. Like all other Ripper theories it cannot be proven and is only circumstantial at the best.
I feel that Druitt was a common visitor to the area because of his (theorised) residence in The Minories.
He visited his Mother at the Asylum in Bethnal Green and during his journies to and from the asylum to either The Minories or to Whitechapel Station he became iunflamed by the sight of the poor wretched prostitutes "infesting" the streets. What we do not know is whether, as a younger person, Druitt showed any of the now classic signs of being unhinged in some ways, whilst seemingly normal in many others. Being unmarried and, we suppose, being unattached I theorise Druitt may possibly have used street prostitutes but found the events traumatised him and increased his inner tensions.
In July 1888 his Mother was moved away from Bethnal Green. As we now know a major life event may trigger whatever drives serial killers and I theorise Druitt may well have been driven to trawl the area building up his inner tempest. Although there are no records available showing assaults, if they were reported, I theorise Druitt may well have begun to assault prostitutes after using their services and then worked up to just assaulting with increasing ferocity. This culminated with the murder of Polly Nicholls. As Polly was killed in the dawn hours I theorise Druitt spent many hours travelling the streets of Whitechapel both working himself up and seeking an easy victim.
